AD ASTRA Woodworks

Dream it.

Build it.

Enjoy it.

MY PROCESS

Showcasing natural wood in a refined way

I love custom projects. I really enjoy the challenge of making something personal that fits someone’s needs and style perfectly. I’ll walk with you through every step of the project. There are multiple ways to start. Whether it’s a Pinterest board, a sketch, or a home visit to mock up the project in the space that it will live. From there we can discuss material options, wood types, hardware, and finish.

After the design phase is complete, I personally select the wood for the project. You will get progress reports and pictures throughout the build, and because it’s custom you have the opportunity to change or add to the project at any point.

In the final stage I really enjoy experimenting with different finishes, new and old, fine or rustic. I also have a collection of vintage and salvaged hardware available if you want to give your piece that one-of-a-kind, well-worn look.

I create furniture with the intention that it will be well used and loved for generations.

See My Work

Trim, built-ins, furniture, small projects. I do it all.

MY PROMISE

My work is created with the intention that it will be well used and get better with age. Every piece of furniture is unique and hand crafted to stand the test of time and hopefully be passed on to future generations. I’ll give you realistic timeframes and I never compromise quality to save time. I strive for old fashioned customer service and guarantee all my furniture for life when used as designed.

ABOUT ME

MY NAME IS JUSTIN,

I started woodworking and welding in high school in Russell, Kansas. I established my company (the name is taken from the Kansas state motto: Ad Astra Per Aspera) in 2017, specializing in carpentry and woodwork.

After more than ten years of working on custom homes and making furniture in Winter Park, Colorado, I moved to McCall, Idaho, in 2019.

TESTIMONIALS

Justin was great to work with right off the bat. Because this was a Christmas gift for my wife, he reached out to make sure he got everything just right. The order shipped quickly and it turned out to be my wife’s favorite gift I got her this year!

We had planted a cherry tree as a family when my kids were little and it was struck by lightning and died. Justin cut it down and used the wood to make me a beautiful jewelry box. He walked me through the process and gave me options about every detail. I love that it has so much significance and it was a great use for a special tree that would otherwise have gone to waste.

Justin was really easy to work with and he created the perfect custom shelves and layout for our bedroom closets. The quality is fantastic compared to pre-made closet systems I considered and I loved making the space our own. Thank you!
